⚔ POKEMON CHAMPIONS
My Current Doubles Team · Complete Rebuild | Updated: April 2026
TEAM OVERVIEW (6-Pokemon Roster)
2 MEGA OPTIONS (1 per battle!)
Mega Tyranitar Despotar · Standard
Sand Stream stays. 164 Atk + 150 Def = massive bulk attacker. The default for Sand teams.
Mega Feraligatr Impergator · Dragon Sweep
Water → Water/Dragon. Dragonize: Normal moves → Dragon STAB. Double-Edge = 216 eff. Power Dragon!
Dragon Dance BEFORE Mega → +1 Atk setup, then Mega for Dragonize. Sheer Force drops when Mega evolving!
Mega Tyranitar → Immediately T1. Sand Stream stays identical, stats immediately better (164 Atk, 150 Def). No reason to wait.
Mega Feraligatr → After Dragon Dance! T1: DD (+1 Atk/Spe) as base with Sheer Force. T2: Mega → Dragonize active, Double-Edge = Dragon nuke with +1 Atk. Without DD, Atk boost is missing for OHKOs.
BATTLE MODES
MODE 1: Sand Offense (Standard)
Sand Rush doubles Speed immediately. Whimsicott Tailwind on top = uncatchable. Backup: Sneasler Fake Out, Sinistcha Rage Powder.
MODE 2: Anti-Trick Room
Sinistcha has its own Trick Room → cancels opposing TR! Or Rage Powder to block the opposing TR setter. Tyranitar + Feraligatr as TR sweepers (slow = fast).
MODE 3: Tailwind HO
Whimsicott Tailwind (Prankster +1 priority = always goes first) + Sneasler Fake Out. T2: Whimsicott Memento sacrifices itself → -2 Atk/-2 SpA on opponent. Tyranitar/Excadrill come in and clean up.
MODE 4: Dragon Dance Sweep
T1: Sinistcha Rage Powder (protects Feraligatr, immune to Fake Out + Close Combat). Feraligatr Dragon Dance (+1 Atk/Spe).
T2: Mega Feraligatr → Dragonize active. Double-Edge = 216 eff. Power Dragon nuke!
DD + Dragonize + STAB = massive Dragon sweep.

OPPONENT ANALYSIS & READING TEAM PREVIEW
STEP 1: Read the Supports, Identify the Archetype
| You see in Preview... | Archetype | Likely Mega | ⚠ Danger for your team |
|---|---|---|---|
| ☀ Sun | M-Charizard Y (Glurak), M-Venusaur (Bisaflor), M-Houndoom (Hundemon) | — | |
| 🌧 Rain | M-Gyarados (Garados), M-Blastoise (Turtok), M-Starmie | Hurricane 100% Acc in Rain | |
| ⚡ Tailwind HO or 🕳 Trap | Fast Mega (M-Garchomp (Knakrack), M-Greninja (Quajutsu)) or Encore Trap (M-Gengar) | Prankster Encore = Perma-Lock! | |
| 🔮 TR + Anti-Priority | Slow Mega | Armor Tail blocks ALL priority moves! Sneasler Fake Out does NOT work! | |
| ⚡ Speed Boost + Baton Pass | Any (boosts are passed on) | Speed Boost + Stored Power stacks → Nuke. Baton Pass gives boosts to Mega! | |
| 🔮 Trick Room | Slow Mega (M-Camerupt, M-Steelix (Stahlos), M-Ampharos) | Rage Powder redirects, TR flips Speed | |
| 🔮 Trick Room | Slow Mega | Magic Bounce reflects status moves | |
| 🛡 Bulky Offense / Goodstuffs | Any (Incineroar fits everywhere) | Intimidate + Fake Out + Parting Shot cycle | |
| 🛡 Intimidate Support | Any | Intimidate + Will-O-Wisp → Atk double-dropped | |
| ⚡ Fake Out + Offense | Offensive Mega that needs 1 free turn | CC 4xSE on Tyranitar! | |
| 🛡 Screens | Fragile setup Mega (M-Lucario, M-Beedrill (Bibor)) | Light Screen + Reflect halves damage | |
| 🗡 Defiant Offense | Any (Kingambit is often the win condition itself) | Defiant = +2 Atk per Intimidate! No own Intimidate in team. | |
| 🛡 Bulky Water | Any | Competitive = +2 SpA per Intimidate! No own Intimidate in team. |
STEP 2: Identify the win condition
| Archetype | Win Condition | Support (ignore!) |
|---|---|---|
| ☀ Sun | M-Charizard Y (Glurak) / Chlorophyll sweeper | Torkoal (only sets Sun) |
| 🌧 Rain | Swift Swim sweeper / M-Gyarados (Garados) | Pelipper (only sets Rain) |
| 🔮 Trick Room | The slow sweeper UNDER TR | TR setter (Sinistcha, Hatterene, Farigiraf) |
| 🕳 Trap | M-Gengar (Shadow Tag) traps you | Whimsicott (Encore), Sneasler (Fake Out) |
| 🏜 Sand | Sand Rush sweeper / M-Garchomp (Knakrack) | Tyranitar (only sets Sand) |
| 🛡 Armor Tail | The Mega that needs free turns | Farigiraf (blocks priority, may set TR) |
| ⚡ Espathra BP | Espathra OR the Baton Pass target | Farigiraf (Armor Tail protects setup) |
| ⚡ HO | The fastest/strongest Mega | Fake Out / Tailwind user |
STEP 3: Your counter-pick
| Opponent Archetype | Your Pick | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| ☀ Sun / 🌧 Rain | Sand overwrites Sun AND Rain | |
| 🔮 Trick Room | Own TR cancels opposing TR | |
| 🕳 Trap (Shadow Tag + Encore) | Dark immune to Shadow Tag + Prankster. Ghost immune to Fake Out + CC | |
| 🛡 Armor Tail (Farigiraf) | Fake Out gets blocked. Knock Off SE on Farigiraf (Psychic). Kill Farigiraf first → then Fake Out is free again | |
| ⚡ Espathra (Speed Boost / BP) | Fake Out interrupts setup. Knock Off SE (Psychic). NEVER give setup turns! | |
| ⚡ HO with Intimidate | White Herb negates 1x Intimidate. Whimsicott Memento = -2 Atk on opponent | |
| 🛡 Double Intimidate (Incin + Arcanine) | Sinistcha + Whimsicott are SpA = immune to Intimidate. Sneasler White Herb negates 1x | |
| 🗡 Defiant / Competitive (Kingambit, Milotic) | No Intimidate in team = no problem! CC 4xSE on Kingambit. Whimsicott Moonblast SE on Kingambit (Fairy→Dark) | |
| 🗡 Fighting-heavy | Ghost type = immune to Fighting | |
| Unclear / Goodstuffs | Standard Sand | Tyranitar + Excadrill + Sneasler + Sinistcha |
STEP 4: Immunity check
· Immune to Psychic attacks → safe from M-Delphox (Fennexis), Alakazam (Simsala)
· Immune to Shadow Tag (Dark ignores Shadow Tag!) → can ALWAYS switch despite M-Gengar
· Immune to Prankster moves (Dark ignores Prankster!) → Whimsicott Encore/Tailwind does NOT hit Tyranitar
· Immune to Normal attacks (Fake Out!) → opposing Fake Out is useless
· Immune to Fighting attacks (Close Combat!) → opposing Sneasler can do nothing
· Rage Powder redirects attacks to itself → perfect shield

1. Fighting-type with >71 Speed in preview → Tyranitar NEEDS protection T1 (Sinistcha Rage Powder or Sneasler Fake Out)
2. Tailwind on opponent → Sinistcha TR! Works even without Tailwind
3. Under TR: DO NOT switch in Excadrill! Sand Rush (176) becomes a disadvantage → goes last
4. Prankster moves have +1 priority = always go first. Only answer: Dark-type (Tyranitar)
5. Priority moves ignore Speed AND TR: Fake Out (+3), Extreme Speed (+2), Aqua Jet (+1)

MATCHUP GUIDE: DETAILED SCENARIOS

| Opponent Mega | Counter | 4-Pokemon Pick |

||
Weather Teams
Steel & Dark
Manectric (bench) has 2× SE special: Overheat (Fire→Steel) + Thunderbolt (Electric→Flying). Bulk Up only raises physical Def, not SpD → Manectric hits the weak special side.
Corviknight in preview → swap Manectric in from bench! Swap out Whimsicott.
Dragons
Sand Mirror
Kingambit (Defiant) Teams
· Sneasler MANDATORY — Close Combat 4xSE is your only safe OHKO on Kingambit
· Whimsicott Moonblast SE on Kingambit (Fairy→Dark) for additional pressure
· Hatterene (Magic Bounce) reflects status moves! Don't try Taunt/Will-O-Wisp → use Knock Off directly
Anti-Priority (Farigiraf / Espathra)
Farigiraf is often also a TR setter! If Farigiraf sets TR → Sinistcha in the back has its own TR as an answer.
Tyranitar is immune to Stored Power (Dark→Psychic) — can serve as a safe switch-in.
BUT: Espathra + Farigiraf combo = Armor Tail blocks Fake Out + Espathra stacks freely. Then Tyranitar Knock Off on Farigiraf first, then pressure Espathra.
Tailwind Leads (Whimsicott + Sneasler)
| Pokémon | Tailwind Speed | Order under TR |
|---|---|---|
| Sinistcha | ~100 | 1. FIRST |
| Tyranitar | 142 | 2. SECOND |
| Opp. Garchomp | 204 | 3. Third |
| Opp. Sneasler | 240 | 4. LAST! |
Why double Rock Slide DOESN'T work: 1) Prankster Tailwind has +1 priority → goes BEFORE Rock Slide. 2) Rock Slide is only neutral damage on Whimsicott (Grass/Fairy) → no guaranteed OHKO. 3) Sneasler Fake Out flinches Excadrill → only 1 Rock Slide left.
Under TR: DO NOT switch in Excadrill! Sand Rush (176 Spe) becomes a disadvantage → Excadrill goes last. Only switch in after TR ends (5 turns).
Trap Teams (Shadow Tag + Encore)
Tyranitar (Dark) ignores Shadow Tag → can always switch. Ignores Prankster → Whimsicott Encore does NOT work against Tyranitar.
Sinistcha (Ghost) immune to Fake Out (Normal) + Close Combat (Fighting) → opposing Sneasler literally cannot touch Sinistcha.
Why NOT your own Sneasler: Your Fake Out gets locked by Whimsicott Prankster Encore → 3 turns useless + Shadow Tag prevents switching = death.
Why NOT Excadrill: No SE on Gengar, no protection from Trap. Useless.
Prankster gives Encore +1 priority. Whimsicott goes ALWAYS first, no matter how fast your Pokemon is. Encore ends after 3 turns → you use a move → Whimsicott Encores again immediately → infinite loop!
Only protection: Dark type (= Tyranitar). Prankster moves do NOT hit Dark types. Tyranitar is your only Prankster protection!
3 Rules against Whimsicott teams:
1. KILL WHIMSICOTT FIRST! Whimsicott is extremely fragile (60 HP). 1-2 hits are enough. As long as Whimsicott is alive, no setup is safe.
2. Tyranitar must NOT die while Whimsicott is alive! Tyranitar is your only Prankster protection. Don't play aggressively, use Sinistcha Rage Powder as a shield.
3. EMERGENCY (Tyranitar down, Whimsicott alive): ONLY use attack moves! Getting Encored into Aqua Jet/Matcha Gotcha = no problem (you're attacking). Getting Encored into Belly Drum/Fake Out/Protect = disaster (they fail after T1).
EQ Core (Garchomp + Gyarados)
Fairy & Fighting
SPREAD MOVES VS RAGE POWDER
| Single-Target (IS redirected) | Spread (is NOT redirected) |
|---|---|
| Knock Off, Ice Punch, Close Combat, Aqua Jet, Play Rough, Iron Head, Dire Claw, Fake Out, Matcha Gotcha, Thunderbolt, Overheat, High Horsepower | Rock Slide (only spread move!) |
GOLDEN RULES
- Tyranitar = Weather anchor — never sacrifice early. Without Sand, no Speed for Excadrill.
- HHP instead of EQ — High Horsepower only hits the opponent. No partner damage!
- Spread vs Rage Powder — Rock Slide instead of single-target when opposing Rage Powder.
- Never give free turns — no Protect T1 if the opponent can set up Swords Dance / TR.
- Analyze the opponent — find the win condition, don't kill the support!
- Intimidate answers — Sneasler White Herb negates 1x. Whimsicott Memento = -2 Atk/-2 SpA on opponent. No own Intimidate in team.
- TR answers — Sinistcha's own TR cancels opposing TR. Feraligatr as TR sweeper (slow = fast under TR).
- Mega choice — Mega Tyranitar (Standard), Mega Feraligatr (Dragon sweep). 1 per battle!
- Weather war — switch Tyranitar in AFTER opposing weather setter → reset Sand.
- Biggest threat first — What can kill me NOW? That gets priority.
